I was born in 1942 in India. My war memories of the war are very, very limited. However, these are some of the things I remember from my earliest days. I recall my mother getting me very excited about a vehicle that was outside our garden - It was covered with pictures of Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and other Walt Disney charecters - they were the same as the pictures in my book. Was this a mobile cenema for the children ?I remember hearing an air raid siren .I was frightened - it was a horrible loud noise and would not stop it made me want to run. I remember playing with small wooden cars and lorries. Much later I learned that these were sent to me by my father who was a staff officer -so they were pinched from the planning tables some Generals' battle plan table! I remember meeting my father for the first time following his demob when he arrived at the door and my mum telling me that this man was my daddy. He hugged and kissed my and gave me a couple of toy ships which he had brought with him 'from a long way away' - years later I remember watching a war film about the convoys and there they were, the same toy ships being pushed around the planning boards !!
Thats all I have to say - little memories of the war from a very little person.
