The Land Girls 1945
1.Who is it you can't do without,
Who stand the toil and brave the shout.'
The Land Girls !
2.In khaki coats and Lincoln Green,
Sprout picking they may oft be seen.
Tough girls.
3.Great of bulk and stout of heart,
You see them driving horse and cart.
Those Women!
4.The workmen look with icy eye,
But say 'Its fun when girls are by .
Our 'Land Girls' .
5. They squeal at mice and hate a rat,
But see them lift a mighty sack!
Brave LAND Girls.
6. Like wagtails they adore the rain,
And work until its fine again.
Weak Women?
7. On tasty pies they live and thrive,
For Pie-days ,Tuesday and Friday.
Our Girls.
8. They have a hearty appetite,
On those meat pies, they feel just right.
Fine girls.
9. In baggy cords and overalls,
They never mind some muddy falls.
'Ware Women'.
10.They tackle leeks and onions too,
But say 'They're better in a stew'.
Such Girls'.
11. With rosy cheeks and cheerful grins,
They soon forgive you all your sins.
Our Lasses.
12. With hefty boots and stockings too,
They are not meant to entrance you.
Our Land Girls.
13. And when this weary War is over,
May they survive, and live in clover,
The Land Army!
