During the war there was my sister and I and an evacuee. When the air raid siren went off at night, we would make our way along the landing, then go down under the stairs.
Clothing of course was on ration we had clothing coupons and our pyjamas were getting rather threadbare. Father who was an ARP Warden managed to get us some all- in -ones. We must have looked very funny in them and they proved to be a problem when we wanted to go to the loo as they had a flap at the back that had to be undone, so you certainly couldn’t leave it until the last minute. But they did the job and they were very warm, mind you we had many a laugh about them
