Peter was around 10 years old in 1941 and was a member of the St Mathias church choir.
Peter has a scrap book from the war which contains hundreds of newspaper articles from the time including pictures of planes, pilot aces and Gereman generals.
One of Peter's most vivid memories is of a Hamden Bomber trying to make it back to Scampton airfield.
The plane had been badly damaged on a bombing raid over Germany and was nearly home when it came down on the church vestry.
Luckily no one was in the church at the time when the plane came down but the memory has stayed with Peter until the present day.
