1942 I left Liverpool by ship and arrived in Durban South Africa 6 weeks later. We changed ship to the "Viceroy of India" and sailed to Egypt. We were there for a couple of weeks, when we did Guard over the Italian Prisoners of War. I was posted to 54RRP (Refuelling Rearming Party) at Siddi Barrani LGO5 for about 3 months before Rommel chased us out. I went to Giancicilis until we went to Ben Gazi. Everytime we moved we took everything with us, this included fuel, bombs, ammuniciation and tents. Our boss was Flight Lietenant Johnny Pipe. The purpose of my war was to supply cover to the Royal Navy, our planes attacked the German convoys. We now jump to 1944 at West Ilsley, Berkshire the Bomb Disposel Unit 6226 Squadron. In Feb 1946 I was posted to Germany in Oldenburgh, Air Disarmemant. Cleaning up bombs which the Germans had not dropped as well as the ones we had dropped.
