Minnie was a pet rabbit belonging to my sister and myself. Before I was evacuated, the rabbit had to be killed as there would be noone to feed her. My father arranged this and my mother prepared and cooked Minnie for supper. My sister sat at the table crying and saying "How can you possibly eat poor Minnie?" I said " We have fed and loved Minnie so we are the only people who could possibly eat her." My sister has never forgiven me.
