My Dear Mum and Dad
Many thanks for your birthday card, also the 10/fod which will come in handy on my journey home, which I hope you will be very soon.
Hoping to that you are in the very best of health, as I am up to press.
Being almost in the heart of Germany, I’ve seen thousands of Jerry, ex slaves as you may have heard……. Was in the great Belsen prison camp but I’m afraid we are also to late to save the lives of hundreds of Belgium workers and slaves, whom have been starved to death in this camp which is in the middle of big woods and forest.
Yes, the German people have it coming to them, in time I hope the German people work as their slaves did.
I’ve picked up a lot of British boys who have run away from the march across Germany and hid in bushes. The way they lived, only on the Red Cross parcels. Without them they would have starved, they looked down and out , but still looked like soldiers.
All the prisoners we take Jerry, I mean are having a tough time and CMPS are those given them hell to try and get there and back for our boys.
I am hoping to meet a Liverpool boy, ex prisoner, so I can ask him to call around and visit you, up to now I’ve had no luck.
I’m also looking for Ellen’s brother Charles, but I believe he’s still on the march, we will soon catch up with them though, I hope I’ve also seen Frank’s boys and our own RAF boys, who broke loose, all seemed have starved.
Well Mum and Dad
I’m afraid it’s time for me to conclude so I’ll say cheerio for now.
From you loving son Henry xxxxxx
Ps Don’t worry, I’m taking good care of myself, keep smiling regards to May and all at home
Henry
