My Father was in the Post Office in Connor Downs. It was owned by a Mr Jope. Already in the Post Office was Mr O.G Harvey of Connor Downs. I remember my father, Mr Lawrence and Mr Lawrence鈥檚 Son, David, building his bungalow at Lowenec Cresent at the top of the village. He owned a 1929 6陆 litre Bentley. Father got behind him in the Post Office and said 鈥渟tick 鈥榚m up.鈥 Mr Harvey fainted, and Mr Jope had to get a bucket of water to bring him round. He went out like a light.
I remember my Father saying when you was in The Home Guard and was out walking by night and heard someone coming and couldn鈥檛 see no-one, you would have to shout 鈥淗alt who goes there, Friend or Foe?鈥
