My mother along with other women and children(she was 9 at the time) and men not considered vital by the British Government, towards the war effort in Gibraltar, where evacuated from Gibraltar into war torn London. I always listen with interest how the children of London where moved away from the bombs, whilst the children of Gibraltar where placed in the middle of London. My mother remembers walking to school past the bomb sites, she remembers sleeping in Tottenham Court Rd tube station during the air raids. She remembers the battle of Britain. Yet it never gets mentioned in any history programme I wonder why, even this site all the countrys to pick from on your drop list yet I had to click on other because the 大象传媒 can't bring itself to mention Gibraltar, the only place during WW2 that the Union Jack flew high throughout the war, where the invasion of North Africa started, where the convoys to aide Malta set off. Thanks for your loyalty BBc.
