I remember sitting on my fathers lap with the sun shining strongly through the window, we were listening to the radio. I was aged six at the time. I recall the announcer telling the nation that we were at war with Germany. I recall my fathers reaction as being one of shock and disbelief. My father was later called up and served in the REME, driving and delivering military vehicles.
