I was nine when the war started and I was fifteen when it finished. I lived in Oldham at the time. I remember seeing a flying bomb. We lived near an ammunition factory and the Germans were trying to find the factory! They never actually managed to get to this factory.
There was a raid on, we used to go into the shelter and the next day we didn't have to go to school until the afternoon.
I remember seeing the German plane caught in the search light; they caught him as he flew down in a parachute.
One day my friend and I were walking past the tip; we saw a plane flying over and we thought he was one of ours so we started waving and he started to shoot at us!
Me and my sisters were going to be evacuated to Canada. My mother didn't let us go because a boat going across had sunk.
