I had my first baby on New Years Eve 1937.
I moved to Ealey in lodgings with my husbands work.
My little boy was born a year after there. I wanted to go into the Wrens but couldn’t. We were there for 2 years and then moved to Leicester — from then on we had another 4 children. I struggled since my husband was away for work.
I had walk everywhere. I hated it in Leicester but I couldn’t go back. I moved from a 2 to 6 bedroom house. Money would come through on a Saturday morning. One week it didn’t come and I had to last on a whole weeks ration.
I never heard a bomb.
