When my grandfather was very young, about four or five, there was an air raid. The bombers came up the river and dropped a mine a few streets away from where he lived. At the time, he and his parents were hiding under the dining room table. As he was sitting near the edge of the rug, the shockwave from the blast rolled him up and he stayed there until the all clear.
