During the worst of the blitz I had the bad (or good) luck to have just come home from evacuation to Bangor,N. Wales.
My father drove all over Liverpool at night, with virtually no lights on his motorbike, delivering messages between anti-a ircraft gun sites. Wile he did this, my mother, sister and I sat in our cellar listening to the bombs falling and the noise of the anti-aircraft guns.
Also, during the height of the Battle of Britain, I was having a short holiday at a farm in Horsham and used to lie on my back, in that glorious summer, and watch the dogfights overhead.
