Before the air raid would sound we always got an early warning. There was a local dog that would allways bark just before the sirens would go off. He never barked at any other time and we always new when to expect German planes.
Equally gifted was our cat Bunny, who after the dog barking and the sirens sounding would join us in the shelter. We would often rush outside and lock all the doors only to find Bunny in the shelter before us. Needless to say he survived the war and lived to a good old age.
