As a young girl I remember that on one day I saw the RAF coming in to land and waving at the planes. The following morning at about 7 o'clock, I heard the sound of plane engines and decided to go outside and wave again. As the planes flew over head it was then that I realized that they were not RAF but German. The flew onto Eastchuch and bomb the station. The following day they were still having to sleep outside because of the damage caused to the station and buildings.
