This story has been written by Portia Stairs and Martell Whitlock of Finedon Mulso C of E Junior School on behalf of Audrey Clarke. Mrs Clarke fully understands the site's terms and conditions.

Some evenings we did fire watch. Later in the evenings, I started working at a forces canteen. I enjoyed this. One really dark evening, soldiers came in saying, 鈥淚t鈥檚 a bit rough out there. They鈥檙e dropping incendiary bombs.鈥 I had to get home and a young man came with me. When we came to my house, many wardens were there. There was a crater in part of the house. Panicking, I said 鈥淢y Mum鈥檚 in there!鈥
鈥淚t鈥檚 all right,鈥 they said. 鈥淵ou鈥檙e Mum is next door with a lady with young babies.鈥
Later, wardens came to tell us that we must go to a centre, as it was an unexploded bomb. We went to stay with some friends, who were able to take us in. We were in the living room the next morning around 11 am when it seemed the whole world shook and the bomb went off taking our home with it.
Later, Dad went to see and came back crying, 鈥淲e鈥檝e lost everything!鈥 Mum was ill for a long time after that.
