I had fun during the war, I went to the pub and the pictures, you had to have fun otherwise you would get down with what was happening.

If we were lucky we may also get sweets, ice cream and chocolate although it was not often because these were rationed.

I worked at Burtons in Leeds we worked long hours and often got woken up with the air raids. Sometimes we were lucky to get any sleep. These days people would not survive they would say we can鈥檛 do it and all that jazz, but we just got on with it.
