Title: Jitter Raids.
On odd nights whilst we were on perimeter guard duty, the Japs would suddenly appear, fire a few flares from a pistol or shout and make a noise to unnerve us. Occasionally they would put a spotlight onto the trees or on flags or rags they had put up onto the trees. They would shout 鈥淛ohnny, Johnny, We know you鈥檙e there. Come on. You鈥檙e safe. Don鈥檛 worry.鈥 We never knew when they would come. Sometimes it would be 3 nights on the trot. Sometimes nothing for night after night.
