Just 2 days after war was declared me and my pal got orders to keep an eye out for enemy Aircraft.

To do this we had to lie on a flat roof of the local school staring up at the sky awaiting a squadron of aircraft that never came!

Anyway, we could not have done anything even if they did come because we had no training or weapons!

Later on I was sent to Anti Aircraft Artcillary in Watton (Norfolk) and then onto Egypt and Palatine where I became a tank dirver, driving Churchill Tanks!
