My relative was Frederick Houghton. His father was Joseph Samuel Houghton and his mother鈥檚 name was originally Amelia Rawlinson. They were married in 1918.
Frederick was born 31st May 1919. During World War 2 he was a Corporal with the fifth Battalion of the East Lancashire Regiment. Apparently, there were four brothers and a nephew in the Forces. Frederick had served almost five years in the Army. Then, according to his brother, Oswald he was killed four days after D-Day.
On the other hand, records state he died on 30/07/1944, so there is a contradiction. It appears that he is buried at Fontenay-Le-Pesnel War Cemetery.
Further evidence from the Liverpool Echo indicates that may be Oswald was wrong in the actual date of his brother鈥檚 death. The fact is that I have little doubt I am related to this family. Even Oswald himself was convinced of that, after a few letters between us and was a main event in researching my family history.
