I was seven when the war broke out. I felt devastated when I found out that I was going to be evacuated. I was taken to Queens Park Station and put on a train. I had a case with me, my gas mask and a label with my name on it. I was sent to a family in Woburn Sands.

It was a good job I was evacuated as my Nan was bombed out twice in Kilburn and her windows totally shattered. In the end I came home to stay with my familiy in the shelters. This was because the people I was with didn't take care of me properly. My mother took me home. The family were only interested in the money they got. I then went to Bletchley and my Dad got me a bike I would deliver cakes for the baker on it.
