When war broke out my Father decided I would be safer as a border at the convent school that I attended as a day student in Bournemouth. He said I would be better off with nuns rather than being on the street with bombs!
I wouldn鈥檛 have seen my family much at that time if it wasn鈥檛 for my aunt who was in the WVS. Luckily she was allowed petrol coupons and spent them driving me to school!
