While working at Allen West, Lewes Road, a German plane dropped its bombs. One hit the army barracks opposite, another the back of Allen West. The plane was brought down behind what was the Ship Hotel and we were told the pilot was an 18-year old.

This story was submitted to the People's War site by volunteer Sue Craig on behalf of Beryl Libin, and has been added to the site with her permission. Beryl fully understands the site's terms and conditions.
