I was bombed out in Bethnal Green, London. I was 12 years old. I lived in Bethnal Green and one night at 2am we came out from the shelter - the air raid shelter lifted about 12 inches off the ground with the vbibrations of the bombings. When we came out at 2am it was so bright we couldread a newspaper. After that we were evacuated to Norfolk (Marsham). On the way to the village I stopped in a pub!! I was there for 9 months til we were bombed there. They dropped a bomb in Norwich. So my parents decided to bring me back to London.

More bombing and I was evacuated again to Truro in Cornwall. Then we got bombed there, so we came back to London again. D-day had started so the bombing stopped for a while. After the war ended I went in to the National Service.
