One day in London I bumped into my Squadron Commander from Colombo, amazed to meet him on a London pavement. He said he was now in charge of personnel at the Admiralty.
I asked him if he could trace what had happened to all those other men who鈥檇 joined up with me at Butlins, Skegness. Later on he found out and told me: only about 30% of them were still around!
