My granma wasnt particlurly young when the second world war started - she was around six when the first one came. As she was older, she did as much as she could to help. Making clothes, black out curtains, rationing the best she could and keeping a look out for any fires or bombs. One time there was a bomb very close to her house and she helped people escape from all the rubble. She was very brave, as she didnt have to put her life in danger for she had no idea that there were any more planes coming. For her actual job, my granma copied down vital information for the english army in shorthand to be sent to the head quarters of the military. My granpa also did his part in the war, but not in action as he was badly injured in his leg. He got a letter from the queen for his effort he did during the war. There must be alot more that has happened, but I know that there are some things that my granma does not want to talk about, as it brings too much pain for her to bear. Maybe she'll tell me more things she did in trying to help her country when im older. I dont know what it felt like to be under so much pressure at such a young age, and its hardto imagine. But what i do know about granma is that she hopes it will never happen again, as though it brought england as a united front and supported the war as best it could, it would have never happened if we lived in unity through out the world. Granma wishes that we could have respected every bodys religion and race before the wars, as they would have never happened otherwise.
