After fighting on the Anzio beach head for quite some time, we had orders to breakout pushing the Germans back.
Eventually on the road to Rome it being a declared open city, we were stopped appraching the Collusiem and told to pull over to the side of the road, the reason being to let the American Soldiers go by so that they could be the first to enter Rome. Imagine the cheering???
