In world war two my Nan was an evacuee. When the war started you only had to go to school for half a day. They had to carry your gas masks every where you went and they were a bit heavy. They had no street lamps and even though there were very few cars the cars that there were had no lights. You had to put black material over all your windows. The food was rationed and they weren鈥檛 allowed any fruit. After a wile all the children got sent to a new family my Nan went to a lady called Mrs Tibbles, she was a widow she lived in Hemmel Hempstead the country was called Herts. They were only allowed to take the clothes they were in and one more set a little box with a treat in and a drink of water. My Nan felt very up set being away from her mum and dad she used to cry every night she used to send letter like
Mum please come and get me I miss you
Loads and dad but it is all right here
The person where living with is called Mrs Tibbles
She is a widow she bought me a pear of
Trousers and a top Can't wait to see you soon.
