Not everyone had a radio and a lot of things got round via word of mouth.
"When the war ended and we'd beaten the hun,
We all went out into the streets to all dance and have fun.
We kew we would win, we'd been put to the test,
because now and forever we know British is best."
We had a street party and wondered where all the food had come from.
We had jelly and potted meat sandwiches.
There was music at the party.
The men would just bring out a piano.
We had the fellowship that the war brought and it outweighed the atroxities of the war.
I don't remember ever going out and feeling not safe and secure in our home and village.
