Getting There: 13th/18th Hussars on D-Day

as my grandfather aproched the beaches of normany in his sherman floating tank he was hit by a shell which knocked him tank out but him and his crew still continued to fire as the tired continued to cuome in until the tide was so far up the beach they were forced to abanded there tank and make a brake for the shore line which by now with the incomming tide was now about 2 mile away so the started to swim but there heavy equipment was dragging them down adn two of my gradfathers crew perished but my grandfather struggled on to the beach eventually ariveing with his boot missing and sodden with the ice cold waters of teh enlish channel after this he coninued to make his was thriugh normany until the final reach berlin.this is just a breaf snippit of my grandfathers adventures and fro this i admire and respect him to this day
