When I was in the ATS I was put in a billet in Southsea and buzzbombs were coming over. The day before, information was coming in that a regiment was missing and I was given a list of those that had flown and been registered as nissing.
I went through these lists and found the missing regiment which I thought were all present and correct but two of them were dead.
After that I was posted to Portsmouth in a hotel there. This particular night we had to sleep in the bus shelter in front of the Apsley Hotel (in case the hotel got bombed).
As we were good girls we all wanted a wee before we went to bed in the bus shelter. We didn't know where to go so we ended up jumping over the sea wall before the tide came in - only think was we didn't miss it the tide came back too soon!
