We used to number our letters, Frank and I. From when he was on leave and then we’d re-start again after he’d gone back.

I had a card one day that just briefly said ‘I am alright’ it was printed out for him, and he just had to sign it. That was when they weren’t allowed to write. I used to keep on writing, even when they weren’t allowed to receive any letters. I used to wait many a time for the postman to come with my letters from Frank.
