I was a member of the Girl Guides. Our Captain had no idea of how to conduct a parade! My best friend was in the Girls鈥 Training Corps which seemed much more efficient and I was a bit jealous. The inefficiency of the Captain caused me great embarrassment once. When we were being dismissed at the close of a general parade for War Weapons Week. I was proudly carrying the Union Flag and was keen on being well-drilled; I turned smartly to the right when she ordered, 鈥淩ight 鈥 no, left turn鈥. All the others turned left. Watching friends and others collapsed and I fumed.
Dad鈥檚 Army rings so true!
