this is the story of what happened to my grandad when he was at the cinema during ww2.he told me he went to the cinema with his friends one day.while he was there it was bombed.he was knocked out.he awoke and was under a pile of bodies.his clothes were torn.he looked around and saw a woman crouching near him.she was naked and crying.she was desperatly trying to hold in her intestines.he was carried out of the cinema and checked over.he was ok apart from a broken leg.he said it was kind of funny in a way as all he could think about was that his trousers were torn and he didnt want to offened any ladies by showing his underware!my grandad was also partly deafened by the blast.i have always found his tales of the war fasanating and touching.he also told me about a time after a bombing he was walking down the high street and came across a body.he saw 2 girls walking towards him so he covered the body with his coat so that they wouldnt see it.i find it amazing that people survived the war and came out the other side ok.i dont think we would be able to cope with it nowadays.my grandad also joined the home guard, and has given me many documents that he had kept.i am very proud of my grandad.
