Doris Lenton

Doris remembers having to go to Mrs Dale鈥檚 cake shop and choose one cake with her ration book.
It was the highlight of her week and the choice was chocolate or jam roll.
Doris had to queue with her friend for ages until the van came with the cakes. This weekly event was on a Friday.
Doris also remembers her mum telling her to get under the kitchen table with her sister and brother when the sirens sounded and the planes came over.
