When a Botha aircraft crash landed in the sea off RAF Valley on 28th August 1941, my father LAC Leslie Ford was one of 14 people who died attempting to rescue the crew from the sea. In 1991 Arthur Jones, Son of the coastguard who died in the same incident, had a memorial erected in Rhosneigr. I knew nothing of this until 1998, when I spoke to an ex neighbour who had moved to Anglesey. When I mentioned the incident he told me he had just read about it in his local paper. A witness to the event had written in the Liverpool evening echo war diary. I eventually visited the area for the first time and now have an album full of details surrounding the event. My mother died without knowing about the memorial.
