Betty Bentley - all ready to go home after evacuation

This 'story' A4423033 is just to show the photograph taken of me - Betty Bentley as I was - in 1940 when I was returning from about six months of an evacuation to Brighton. I was returning to Thornton Heath.

Notice how the machine automatically recorded my weight at 3 stones and 2 pounds.
I was wearing my gas mask - over a jacket that was plenty big enough and no doubt intended to last for many years.

Submitted by the British Schools Museum with the permission of Mrs Goble.
More of Mrs Goble's stories can be found at articles A4422980, A4422917, A7349259, A7349493, A7349808.
