I was 14 when the War started. I came from a large family of 8 children.My father was called up. So me being the oldest, I had to support my mother.

Times were hard with rationing for clothes and food. Army pay was not good so we struggled. My father was killed 3 months after signing up, he was in Germany.

I don't know how he died but the events of the War has left a lasting memory for all of my family.
