I worked at Green鈥檚 in Charlotte Street during the war making webbing for haversacks.
I can remember there being a gun on the Arboretum, also coming home one night after the Germans had bombed Reginald Street and seeing all bullet holes in the walls. We used to watch the sky all aglow. A girl at the end of our street was killed when they bombed Royce鈥檚.
During the raids we stayed all cuddled together under the stairs, and not in the shelter. I used to feel really sick from lack of sleep.
