When the sirens went during lunch time from school if the 'all clear' hadn't gone you got to stay home.
One day the all clear went but we (me and my friend Rosie) decided that we were not going back to school. We played the wag and went to Tritiford Park.
Low and behoold, who should come round the park but the teacher with the class to do a nature study. We hid in the bushes for a couple of hours until they'd gone back. We ran home. I wrote her note the next day and she wrote mine giving reasons for our absence. We said we were quite poorly.
I never played wag again!
