My most memorable day in the war was the 5th November in 1944 - I had would have been 23. I was an anti aircraft gunner and on this day, i was positioned in Dover. From here we could see the German location across the border in France. All of a sudden we were in the midst of a gun battle. From where we were we could see the Germans coming straight for us and shooting at our battery. In those days, air craft guns were called Winnie and Pooh. They made a terrific noise. Many of my fellow air fighters died.
