I was called up to join the army (Luftwaffe) at the end of the war 16 years of age. Between the 5th and 10th of April 1945, I was taken prisoner by Canadian troops north of Arubem, in Holland, a little town called ZUTPHEN-VARNSVELD. We were surrounded [with] nothing to eat for days and physically at the end. I personally was happy war was finished for me.
