My father ,Major David Gilbertson, landed in France on probably,June 7 1944.He was in the 53rd Welsh Division of the 81st Field Regiment in the Glamorganshire Yomanry which became the Royal Artillery. He was therefore a Gunner. In 1944 he would have been 27 years old.I and my mother know very little about his experiences post D-Day.It upset him to talk about the war. I know that he entered Germany and was involved in the country's liberation. He was awarded the Military Cross for his bravery in one of the campaigns and was mentioned in dispatches . My mother has the citation for this medal. We would love to know more details of what he may have experienced. Can anyone help us? He died in 1993. Is there anyone out there who fought with him?
