During the period of the Manchester Blitz is the time of the occurrence, the owner of a corner shop grocer in Blikely Road Cheadle, had for a long period of time had told his many regular customers that it was impossible to obtain tins of salmon and tins of fruit. On the night in question his shop suffered a direct hit, as a result of explosion tins of both salmon and fruit were blown into surrounding roads, where after the "all clear" people were collecting many of the tins, which were greatly enjoyed.
