On the night of the Blitz to the best of my knowledge (I was 6 years old), my mum and I were on our way to Percy Street air raid shelter. We met a friend who advised my mum not to go to Percy Street - it was packed.
So we made our way to the Crumlin Road to go to The Hills as we called them.
The next morning on returning home, we heard the dreadful news of the Percy Street shelter being demolished, with no survivors.
So it seems we escaped death and somebody up above looked down.
