I was born on 7th December 1944. Ten minutes after my birth, a bomb was dropped 100 yards up our road. I was showered with glass, as was my mother.

I served in the Royal Navy for 24 years from 1960-1984. There was never been peace in the world during that time. I was involved in the uprising in Borneo and also served in South Arabia — and have received campaign medals for these two campaigns. Many of my friends did not survive these campaigns.
