I was an army air corp. pilot where I flew gliders during the war, including D- Day and Arnham. I personally found D- Day a piece of cake, however at Arnham, we lost all our men. The bridges over the river Orn canal were captured by Major John Howard. The enemy seemed to disappear quickly and we had to return to the beaches to get a boat back home. It was referred to as a ‘Witches Cauldron’ according to the Germans, 25% of the pilots were killed.
