the following is an account of Pauline Wilkinson.
her father worked at shelton bar creating war materials from iron. her nother was a nurse. during the war a bomb landed just a few yards away from her house. the people who lived next door were all injured when there house fell ontop of them. her grandad and uncle were in the war. her grandad was a private and her uncles were privates. three of here uncles didnt come back after the war. she was three when the war ended. she can remember the street parties and all the people making lots of noise. one of her uncles was with the rescue party at auszwitz. she said that all the people that she knew all had gas masks and tin hats. all the country was rationed at the time because there was a food shortage.
