My father was working at the Daimler factory in Coventry when war broke out in 1939. There were many German people working at the site at the time. When war was declared, all the German staff had to go back home to Germany. My father felt very let down that people he had khnown and worked with went to join the enemy. He felt betrayed when Coventry was destroyed in the Blitz after so many German people had made their homes here.
The Daimler factory itself was unharmed in the war.
